Ingredients for Mutton Chilli in Kerala Style:
- Mutton – 1 kg
- Coconut oil – 2 tablespoons
- Green chillies split into 2– 20
- Soya sauce – 1 tablespoon
- Orange-red colour – 1 pinch
- Chilli sauce – 2 tablespoons
- Curry leaves – 2 stems
- Pepper powder – 2 tsp
- Salt – as needed
How to prepare Mutton Chilli in Kerala style?
- Clean the mutton and cut it into 4 square pieces. Using a pressure cooker, cook it well.
- Cut mutton pieces into lengthy thin pieces.
- Heat the coconut oil and sauté the chilli pieces for a minute.
- Add mutton pieces to it along with sauces and colour.
- Make it dry and add curry leaves.
- Heat another pan (uruli) in a stove or hearth.
- Turn the flame off and add the meat, pepper powder and salt and stir continuously.
Note: It can be done in two other methods also. After heating the urli, you can sauté onions and add chicken and pepper powder.
In the second method, after adding pepper and meat, you can add 2 tablespoons of chilli sauce and 3 tablespoons of tomato sauce to get another Kerala-Chinese combination.
