Muscle Cramp – Some easy methods to avoid it

Muscle cramp – It not only gives discomforts, but severe pain too. Muscles roll in the upward or downward direction giving uncontrollable pain. Do you know what the reasons for this condition are? De-hydration and malnutrition are among the major factors. If you take care of these points, muscle cramps can be reduced to great extent.

1. To avoid the deficiency of magnesium and calcium, include green colour vegetables, dates, corn, pulses and milk products in your diet. Also include orange, grapes and tomatoes rich in Vitamin C.

2. Drink at least 1.5 litres of water every day. If you do physical exercises or manual work, there are more chances of dehydration and you need to drink more amount of water while doing so.

3. If a cramp occurs, massage on the affected areas. It can give you comfort a lot. You can also place hot water bag on those areas to get some relief.

4. Muscle cramp is quite common in pregnant ladies. As their weight increases day by day, it gives extra strain to leg muscles and that’s the reason why. While you stand, put weight on both legs equally. Also stand erect. Also give much importance to nutritious food during gestation period to avoid ‘cramp’ difficulties.

An unexpected, sudden and involuntary muscle contraction or over-shortening process, cramp is associated with severe pain. Its discomforts are temporary and not of severe damage, and quite common in sportsmen. But normal people too are often affected with this condition. So take care of yourself.
