Muhallabi belongs to Middle Eastern Cuisine and has roots in Ottoman Turkish Cuisine. It’s a Pudding dessert, best for festival occasions. Milk, sugar, rice flour (or cornstarch) form the prime ingredients, and rose water, orange blossom water, cardamom, or vanilla are used as flavouring agents. It has a smooth, velvety, custard-like texture and appears very similar to the Panna Cotta dessert. This dish is generally garnished with chopped pistachios, almonds, coconut flakes, or a drizzle of honey/syrup. In this preparation, powdered cashews are used as the topping.
