Meen Pollichath (Steamed Fish) in Chinese Style
Ingredients for Meen Pollichath (Steamed Fish) in Chinese Style:
1. Fish, cleaned as whole – 1 kg
2. Chilli powder – 3 big spoons
Ginger – 1 piece
Garlic – 2, full
Vinegar – 2 big spoons
Salt – For taste
3. Coconut oil – As needed
4. Onion – 3, sliced thin
5. Cashews – 2 big spoons
Garlic chopped – 2 big spoons
Green chillies split into two – 5
6. Tomato sauce – 4 big spoons
Soya sauce – 1.5 big spoons
Orange red colour – 1 drop (optional)
How to prepare Meen Pollichath (Steamed Fish) in Chinese Style?
1. Draw lines in the cleaned fish. Never cut it into pieces.
2. Pre-heat oven in 180 degree Celsius.
3. Make a fine paste of ingredients no: 2 and marinate fish.
4. Keep the remaining masala aside.
5. Heat oil in a pan and fry onions golden brown.
6. Remove onions and add ingredients no: 5 to same oil.
7. Fry the items and remove from oil.
8. Add more oil to frying pan and fry marinate fish. Only half cook the fish, and the outer surface should turn crispy.
9. In the remaining oil, add extra oil if needed and sauté the gravy, which you have kept for future use.
10. Add fried onions, a little water, tomato sauce and soya sauce.
11. Add a drop of orange red colour if needed. You can skip this part too.
12. Boil all the contents well and check salt. The gravy should not be too thick in consistency.
13. Take a pie dish, pour some gravy and place fish as a single layer.
14. Pour remaining gravy on its top.
15. Bake fish in pre-heated oven for 10 minutes.
16. Before you serve, sprinkle fried cashews, garlic and green chillies.
