Manu Manjith – Malayalam lyricist and poet

Manu Manjith is a well-known name among Malayalam lyricists of today. He is a Homoeopathic doctor by profession, and also a poet. Marked his debut as a lyricist with the popular song, Mandaarame from Ohm Shanthi Oshaana in 2014, he gained recognition within a short time period. Since his debut flick he has been frequently associated with Shaan Rahman, and has penned lyrics for some of the popular songs of June, Kunjiramayanam, Mudhugauv, Adventures of Omanakuttan, Adi Kappyare Koottamani, Ormayundo Ee Mukham, Vikramaadithyan, Oru Vadakkan Selfie etc.

Manu Manjith was born in Atholi of Kozhikode district in 1986. Since young he was interested in writing and took part in Malayalam versification and story writing competitions. He studied from Government Homoeopathic Medical College, Kozhikode and is a professional Homoeopathic doctor. Along with his professional career he pursued his career as a lyricist and has succeeded as well. Mostly associated with fast tracks, Ee Mizhikalil from Ormayundo Ee Mukham, Melle Melle from June, Salsa and Thumbapoove Sundari from Kunjiramayanam etc are some of his popular songs.

Manu Manjith – Some interesting and less-known facts

1. He loves reading novels and is an avid fan of Malayalam lyricist Gireesh Puthencherry.

2. ‘Immini Ballya Kozhikode,’ a hit YouTube album on Kozhikode helped him to earn initial recognition as a lyricist.

3. Doctor-turned-lyricist wrote songs for Koothara first, but Ohm Shanthi Oshaana got released first.
