Irachi – Kaaya Varattiyath (Meat – Raw Banana Fry)

Ingredients for Irachi – Kaaya Varattiyath (Meat – Raw Banana Fry):

1. Meat of your choice – ½ kg

2. Shallots – 10

    Pepper powder – 1 big spoon

    Fennel powder – 1/2 big spoon

    Curry leaves – 1 stem

3. Coconut oil – 1 big spoon

4. Coconut scrapped – ½ cup

    Shallots – 5

    Cardamom – 2

    Coriander seeds – 1 big spoon

    Chilli powder – 1 big spoon

    Pepper – ½ small spoon

    Curry leaves – 1 stem

    Turmeric powder – ½ small spoon

5. Coconut oil – 2 big spoons

6. Shallots chopped – ½ cup

    Ginger – One medium sized piece, crushed

    Garlic – 7 cloves, crushed

    Green chillies – 5, crushed

    Curry leaves – 2 stems, crushed

7. Turmeric powder – ½ small spoon

    Salt – As needed

8. Raw banana – 2, cut into small pieces after removing skin

How to prepare Irachi – Kaaya Varattiyath (Meat – Raw Banana Fry)?

1. Cook meat along with ingredients no: 2.

2. Heat oil in a pan, and sauté ingredients no: 4 one after another.

3. Add powders towards the end only. Take extra care not to burn the ingredients.

4. Grind the mixture without adding water.

5. Heat oil in a pan and sauté ingredients no:6.

6. Add turmeric powder and salt, and sauté for a few more minutes.

7. Add cooked meat along with coconut paste and mix well.

8. Add chopped raw banana pieces and cook in low flame. Keep lid closed.

9. When banana is cooked, add extra salt if needed.

10. Add curry leaves too, and cook for some more time with lid open till Meat – Raw Banana Fry turns dry.
