Hardik Mehta – Bollywood director and screenwriter of ‘Kaamyaab’ fame

Hardik Mehta is a promising film director of Hindi cinema, best known for directing Roohi (2021) and Kaamyaab (2018). He has also worked with director Vikramaditya Motwane, co-scripted his movies like Trapped and supervised Bollywood scripts like Mausam, Lootera, and Queen. He has also directed a few short films and co-scripted web series, Paatal Lok. His documentary film, Amdavad Ma Famous received National Film Award for Best Non-Feature Film in 2015.

Initially he worked as script and continuity supervisor under renowned directors

Hardik Mehta after doing his engineering studies, completed M.A in Mass Communication from AJK Mass Communication Research Centre, Jamia Milia Islamia in 2008 and worked with Amul for a short period. Then he joined Bollywood as script and continuity supervisor. He worked under Dev Benegal, Vikramaditya Motwane and Vikas Bahl, as a script and continuity supervisor.

Skin Deep (2013) was his first directorial venture

In 2013 he directed his first short film, Skin Deep, which was later added to Char Cutting (2015) anthology. His short film Amdavad Ma Famous (2015), set against the backdrop of the kite-flying festival in Gujarat received National Film Award for Best Non-Feature Film in 2015.

His debut movie, Kaamyaab (2018) earned him accolades

His debut feature film Kaamyaab was premiered at the 2018 Busan International Film Festival. Later it was released in India in 2020 by Red Chillies Entertainment and Drishyam Films. The movie received wide critical acclaim. His second full-fledged film, Roohi, early titled as Roohi Afzana had a theatre release in 2021. The comedy starring Rajkummar Rao, Varun Sharma and Janhvi Kapoor opened to negative reviews.

1. His wife Akanksha Tewari is a writer-producer.

2. He worked as dairy and food technology engineer with Amul, before turning script supervisor.
