Chena – Chemb – Cherupayar Puzhukk

Ingredients for Chena – Chemb – Cherupayar Puzhukk:

1. Colacasia – 150 gm, cleaned and cut into pieces

    Elephant yam – 150 gm, cleaned and cut into pieces

    Turmeric powder – A little

    Salt – For taste

2. Coconut scrapped – 1 cup

    Shallots – 5

    Garlic – 6 cloves

    Green chillies – 2

    Cumin seeds – 1 small spoon

3. Virgin coconut oil – 1 big spoon

4. Mustard – 1 small spoon

    Curry leaves – A little

5. Soya bean/any pulse/chickpeas boiled – 100 gm

6. Flax seeds – 1 big spoon

    Salt – A little

7. Moringa leaves /palak/spinach – A handful

How to prepare Chena – Chemb – Cherupayar Puzhukk?

1. Cook ingredients no: 1 together.

2. Crush ingredients no: 2 together and keep aside.

3. Heat oil in a pan and sputter mustard seeds.

4. Add curry leaves and coconut mixture and fry for a few minutes.

5. Add ingredient no: 5 and mix well.

6. Add cooked yam and colocasia.

7. Make a powder of ingredients no: 6 and add to your puzhukk

8. Add the leaves in the final stage and mix well.

9. When the leaf is well, put off the flame.
