Chakka Cutlet, also known as Jackfruit Cutlet, is a tasty Kerala snack made with tender jackfruit and spices, shaped into cutlets and pan-fried until golden and crisp. This flavorful snack is perfect for tea time or evening munching and celebrates the unique taste of Kerala jackfruit.

Ingredients for Chakka Cutlet (Jackfruit Cutlet):
- Oil – 2 big spoons
- Onion chopped – ½ cup
Ginger chopped – 1 small spoon
Green chillies chopped – 4
Curry leaves – 2 big spoons
Salt – As needed - Pepper powder – 1/4 small spoon
Chilli powder – ½ small spoon
Turmeric powder – 1/4 small spoon
Garam masala powder – ½ small spoon - Raw/tender jackfruit chopped fine – 2 cups
- Potato – 1, medium-sized, boiled and smashed
- Egg – 1
- Bread crumbs – As needed
- Oil – As needed
How to prepare Chakka Cutlet (Jackfruit Cutlet)?
- Heat oil and sauté ingredients no: 2.
- Add the powders and sauté till the raw smell goes out.
- Add jackfruit, mix well and close the lid.
- Cook until done, then add smashed potatoes.
- Turn off the flame and allow the masala to cool.
- Mix all ingredients once again using your hands and make balls.
- Make cutlet shapes from balls and dip each one in beaten egg.
- Roll each cutlet in bread crumbs till it gets a fine coat.
- Deep fry in hot oil. Cutlets should turn golden brown.
