Chakka Chula Varuthath (Jackfruit Chips)
Ingredients for Chakka Chula Varuthath (Jackfruit Chips):
1. Well ripen raw jackfruit – ½
2. Coconut oil – 1 litre
3. Salt – For taste
How to prepare Chakka Chula Varuthath (Jackfruit Chips)?
1. Remove the tip portions of each jackfruit floret and remove seeds first.
2. Then cut them into lengthy pieces of equal sizes.
3. Heat oil in a urli and fry jackfruit pieces.
4. When pieces turn stiff, sprinkle salt water and keep stirring.
5. When bubbles disappear completely, you can strain chips from hot oil.
6. You can prepare jackfruit chips in different lots.
Note: There is one easy method to know when jackfruit slices are well cooked in hot oil. When you put them in hot oil, they produce loud sound, and slowly it reduces. When chips turn stiff, it has some different voice and can be easily identified that it’s time to sprinkle salt mixed with water.
