Brijesh Wawdhane, better known by his stage name Brijesh Shandilya, is a playback singer who predominantly sings in Hindi and Telugu films. “Banno Tera Swagger” song from the film Tanu weds Manu returns (2015), and the title song from Allu Arjun’s Telugu hit Sarrainodu are his chartbuster songs. As of now, he has sung more than 20 film songs apart from recording independent songs. He has participated in reality music shows like Sa Re Ga Ma Pa and Indian Idol.

His real name is Brijesh Kumar Tripathi, and he was born in 1980. He hails from the Basti District of Uttar Pradesh. He was born into a humble family of farmers, and for those to pursue Bollywood dreams is not an easy task. Adding difficulties, he started formal learning in music only in the year 2000. After learning Hindustani music and a few musical instruments for 5 years, he came to Mumbai to pursue his dreams in Bollywood.

He marked his singing debut with “Hooriyaan” from Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye! in 2008, which earned him initial recognition. Yet it took almost 8 years of struggle to get the major breakthrough song through Tanu weds Manu returns. Songs like Fauji from War Chhod Na Yaar, Badhaiyan Tenu from Badhai Ho, Title track of Jai Ho and Golmaal Again and Mera Nachan Nu from Airlift also got noticed.

1. His super hit Telugu song Sarrainodu was recorded in just 40 minutes, and the song’s success made him a popular voice of Telugu cinema.

2. Hanuman Chalisa Super Fast is his independent album.

3. He has learnt a little bit of new-age classical music apart from Hindustani music, and he also plays tabla, guitar, and harmonium.

4. He is a great fan of old Hindi songs and has released his first solo album in 2016 as a tribute to Bollywood music legends.

5. Practically, he records songs every second. But his versions have rarely made it to the soundtrack of the film.
