Ingredients for Wheat Appam (Gothamb Podi Appam):
- Yeast – ½ small spoon
Sugar – ½ small spoon - Hot water – ½ cup
- Wheat flour – 2 cups, blended
- Salt – As required
- Coconut milk – ¾-1 cup
- Coconut milk – ½-¾ cup
How to prepare Wheat Appam (Gothamb Podi Appam)?
- Mix yeast and sugar in warm water and place aside. Allow it to rise.
- Take wheat flour in a bowl and make a pit at the centre.
- Add the yeast mixture and salt to it.
- Slowly mix wheat flour, adding ¾-1 cup coconut milk, and prepare a thick batter for appam.
- Close the lid and allow the batter to ferment for 4-6 hours.
- Add ½-3/4 cup of thin coconut milk to make a thin batter.
- Heat the appam maker (pan) and pour one ladle of batter.
- Rotate it once to get a perfect round shape.
- Close the lid and cook as normal appam.
- Serve with some stew or any curry of your choice.
