Wheat Appam recipe

Ingredients for Wheat Appam (Gothamb Podi Appam):

  1. Yeast – ½ small spoon
    Sugar – ½ small spoon
  2. Hot water – ½ cup
  3. Wheat flour – 2 cups, blended
  4. Salt – As required
  5. Coconut milk – ¾-1 cup
  6. Coconut milk – ½-¾ cup

How to prepare Wheat Appam (Gothamb Podi Appam)?

  1. Mix yeast and sugar in warm water and place aside. Allow it to rise.
  2. Take wheat flour in a bowl and make a pit at the centre.
  3.  Add the yeast mixture and salt to it.
  4. Slowly mix wheat flour, adding ¾-1 cup coconut milk, and prepare a thick batter for appam.
  5. Close the lid and allow the batter to ferment for 4-6 hours.
  6. Add ½-3/4 cup of thin coconut milk to make a thin batter.
  7. Heat the appam maker (pan) and pour one ladle of batter.
  8. Rotate it once to get a perfect round shape.
  9. Close the lid and cook as normal appam.
  10. Serve with some stew or any curry of your choice.
