Thambraan thoduthathu malarambu

Thambraatti pidichathu poonkombu

Dhaahichu mohichu thapassirunnu

Thambraatti pidichathu poonkombu

What the ‘prince’ shot was flower arrow,

What the ‘princess’ caught was flower branch

Doing tapas with thirst & desire,

What the ‘princess’ caught was flower branch

Thambraan thoduthathu malarambu

Thambraatti pidichathu poonkombu

Dhaahichu mohichu thapassirunnu

Thambraatti pidichathu poonkombu

What the ‘prince’ shot was flower arrow,

What the ‘princess’ caught was flower branch

Doing tapas with thirst & desire,

What the ‘princess’ caught was flower branch

When she hears the jingling of (elephant) chains,

Her heart beats too fast

When she sees the mahout of *Mana (House of Brahmins)

Girl’s cheek blushes

Kadakannu thudikkanathenthaanu

Like a fish put on bank,

Why is her eye fluttering?

Kaavile pooram kanaamo

Karalile thevare poonaano

Is it to watch the festival at sacred mangroves,

Or to embrace the lord of heart?

Will catch & tie somewhere
