Swarnachaamaram Veeshiyethunna Song from Yakshi – Lyrics in English with Translation

Swarna chamaram veeshiyethunna
Swapnamaayirunnenkil njan
Swarga seemakal ummavaikkunna
Swapnamaayirunnenkil njan
I wish I could become the dream
Which reaches near you, fanning the golden fan.
I wish I could become the kissed dream
Of the fringes of heaven.
Swarna chamaram veeshiyethunna
Swapnamaayirunnenkil njan
Swarga seemakal ummavaikkunna
Swapnamaayirunnenkil njan
I wish I could become the dream
Which reaches near you, fanning the golden fan.
I wish I could become the kissed dream
Of the fringes of heaven.
Harsha lolayaay nithyavum ninte
Hamsa thoolika shayyayil
Vannu poovidumaayirunnu njan
Ennumee parnnashalayil
With joy, every day
In your swan feather bed
I would have spread flowers,
Forever in your hermitage
Thaavakaathmavinullile
Nithya daahamayirunnenkil njan
Mookamam nin manoradhathile
Mohamayirunnenkil njan
I wish I could become
The everlasting thirst inside your soul
I wish I could become
The desire inside your silent mind chariot.
Nrithalolanayi nithyavum ninte
Mughdha sankalpamaakave
While each day, with delicate dance steps
When I become your unbound imagination,
Vannu charthikkumayirunnu njan
Ennile prema saurabham
I would have come and adorned you with
The love perfume of mine
Gayakaa nin vipanchikayile
Ganamaayirunnenkil njan
Thaavaganguli lalithamamoru
Gaanamaayirunnenkil njan
Singer…
I wish I could become the song of your veena
I would have become a tune
Caressed by your fingers
Kalpanakal chirakaniyunna
Pushpamangalya rathriyil
On the spring night,
When fantasies wear wings
Vannu choodikkumayirunnu jnan
Ennile raga maalika
I would have come and adorned you
With my jasmine of love
Swarna chamaram veeshiyethunna
Swapnamaayirunnenkil njan
Swarga seemakal ummavaikkunna
Swapnamaayirunnenkil njan
I wish I could become the dream
Which reaches near you, fanning the golden fan.
I wish I could become the kissed dream
Of the fringes of heaven.
Note: Swarna Chamaram song had a duet version of Yesudas and Leela, with slight differences in lyrics, with the same actors. I translated the solo version sung by Leela.
“Yakshi” (Lady Spirit) released in 1968, is the first psychological thriller in the history of Malayalam cinema, and the film was based on a highly acclaimed novel of the same name, authored by Malayattoor Ramakrishnan.
There is one line in the 2nd Antara, “Thavaganguli lalithamamoru….” The same line has been copied for the famous song, “Enthinu Veroru Sooryodayam“.
