Sandwich Orange Sponge Cake

Ingredients for Sandwich Orange Sponge Cake:

1. White yolk – 3

    Cream of tartar – A pinch

2. Yellow yolk – 3

3. Sugar – 1 cup

4. Orange juice – ½ cup

    Orange skin scrapped – 2 small spoon

5. Maida – 1.5 cups

    Baking powder – 1.5 small spoons

    Salt – A pinch

For filling:

6. Sugar – ½ cup

    Maida – 2 big spoons

    Salt – A pinch

    Yellow yolk – 2

    Butter – 2 big spoons

7. Lemon juice – 1 small spoon

For frosting:

8. Warm milk – 4 big spoons

    Orange/lime essence – 1 small spoon

    Icing sugar – Approximately 3 cups

9. Orange skin – To decorate

How to prepare Sandwich Orange Sponge Cake?

1. Pre-heat oven in 180 degree celsious.

2. Mix together ingredients no: 1 and when the mixture thickens, add yellow yolk one after another and beat well.

3. Add sugar little by little and beat well, followed by orange juice and orange skin.

4. Blend together ingredients no: 5 and add to the egg-sugar mixture.

5. Mix the contents well to prepare the batter.

6. Pour this batter in the cake pan and bake in pre-heated pan. The cake should be thick enough to slice to two round portions. You can also bake two cakes separately from the above batter.

7. To prepare the filling, mix ingredients no: 6 in a bowl first.

8. Cook it in double boiling method by placing the bowl above boiling water. Keep stirring.

9. After you take the bowl from water, add lemon juice and mix well. This is used as filling.

10. To prepare frosting, transfer warm milk to a bowl and add essence. Add icing sugar too and mix well.

11. Once the cake is done, slice into two equal portions.

12. Place filling in between the cake slices and completely wrap the cake using frosting.

13. You can decorate using orange skin.
