Reza Shariffi is a National award-winning costume designer associated with Bollywood. He also worked on several Kamal Hassan movies in Tamil. In 2002, he shared the National film award for Best Costume Designer with Neeta Lulla, Abu Jani, and Sandeep Khosla for designing grand costumes for Devdas. The work also earned IIFA and ZEE Cine Awards. His work on the sequel to Tanu Weds Manu shot him to instant fame. He has been associated with Bollywood since the mid-1990s and has spent 25 years in the industry designing clothes for some of the top Bollywood heroines like Madhuri Dixit, Rani Mukerji, Kangana Ranaut, Sushmita Sen, Shilpa Shetty, Diya Mirza, Shraddha Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra, Kareena Kapoor, Katrina Kaif, Malaika Arora, Urmila Matondkar etc for their movies.

Reza Shariffi was born in Iran in 1967. He joined the Indian film industry in the mid-1990s, and as a costume designer, he got the opportunity to design costumes for Ritu Shivpuri for the 1995 movie, Hum Sab Chor Hain. It was followed by a major project – Rajkumar, where he designed costumes for the reigning queen, Madhuri Dixit. In the same year, he also designed costumes for Kamal Hassan’s expensive Tamil flick – Indian (Hindustani). Costumes and makeup of Kamal for the movie were much talked about at that time. Since then, they have regularly worked together for many years. He received a nomination for Main Madhuri Dixit Banna Chahti Hoon at ZEE Cine Awards and for Tanu Weds Manu at Apsara Awards, apart from winning several accolades.

1. Reza Shariffi is of Iranian origin.

2. For Devdas, he designed costumes for Madhuri Dixit, Milind Gunaji, Vijendra Ghatge and other male characters.

3. He designed costumes for Madhuri Dixit for her movies – Devdas, Mohabbat, Rajkumar, Wajood, Hum Tumhare Hain Sanam, Gaja Gamini etc, thus working continuously with her for many projects from 1996 onwards. Rajkumar was their first collaboration. He also designed the outfits of Madhuri Dixit and her husband for their wedding reception.

4. He designed Kangana Ranaut’s costumes in Tanu Weds Manu, Tanu Weds Manu Returns, Double Dhamaal and Rajjo, and these works were well appreciated.

5. He designed costumes for early movies of Diya Mirza – Rehna Hai Tere Dil Mein, Deewaanapan, Tumko Na Phool Payenge etc and also Alag.

6. He worked with Kamal Hassan for Tamil movies – Indian (Hindustani), Hey Ram, Pammal K. Sambandam, Panchathantiram, Mumbai Xpress (bilingual), Aalavandhan etc. For the movie Hey Ram, he designed costumes for Kamal and Shah Rukh Khan.

7. Among male actors apart Kamal Hassan for different movies and Hey Ram for Shah Rukh Khan, he designed costumes for Saif Ali Khan in Hameshaa and Hum Tum, Palash Sen in Filhaal, Milind Gunaji and Vijendra Ghatge in Devdas etc.

8. He designed costumes for the kids of the movie, Raju Chacha, released in 2000.

9. He designed costumes for four seasons of the reality show, Nach Baliye, and three seasons of Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa, and many other shows.

10. He designed the costumes of Shamita Shetty in the item song, Chori Pe Chori for Saathiya.
