Ramesh Varma is a film director, producer, and screenwriter from Telugu cinema. He started his film journey as a poster designer in 1998, and also worked as a publicity designer for several Telugu films and Bollywood films, before he forayed into film direction through Oka Oorilo in 2005. As a film director he is best known for his 2019 hit film, Rakshasudu, a remake of the Tamil psychological thriller, Ratsasan. His movies – Ride and Veera have been mass entertainers, and registered box office hits. Oka Oorilo and Abbayitho Ammayi have been dud at the box office.

Ramesh Varma hails from Bhimavaram, West Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh. After completing his graduation in 1998, he began his career as a publicity designer. In fact, his father is also a designer at Eenadu Colorama, Ramoji Film City. In 1998, he designed the poster of Preminchukundam Raa under the name “Kiran Poster Ads”. He also worked as a publicity designer before making his debut as a film director in 2005. He produced Jaffa and 7, and wrote the script and story of Mallepuvvu and 7.
