Priyanshu Painyuli is an Indian actor and model, best known for playing the super hero Bhavesh Joshi in the film Bhavesh Joshi Superhero in 2018. Though the movie was not a commercial success at the time of release, it earned a cult status and fan following over the years. In a career spanning to more than a decade, Priyanshu Painyuli appeared in a dozen of roles, yet most remembered for his role as super hero in Bhavesh Joshi Superhero. He played Robin (Radhesyam) in two seasons of Mirzapur series.
Priyanshu Painyuli – A small-town boy from Dehradun
Priyanshu Painyuli was born on 15 November 1987 in Delhi. Dehradun is his hometown. He later moved to Bangalore in 1995 where he spent his childhood days. Thus, young Priyanshu was brought up in south Indian atmosphere. He began his career as a model, and later joined film industry as an assistant director in 2017. He was also associated with theatre during his early days.
Priyanshu made brief appearances in Rock On 2 and Love At First Sight, same year. Manuja Tyagi’s movie Love At First Sight was his debut film. He played Shraddha Kapoor’s brother in Rock On 2; the role for which he auditioned in 2016.
Bhavesh Joshi Superhero – The biggest break of his career
In 2018, director Vikram Motwani casted Priyanshu Painyuli in his super hero film, Bhavesh Joshi Superhero in second lead role. It was Priyanshu’s first full-fledged film. Interestingly, despite being a supporting role, Priyanshu played the titular role of Bhavesh Joshi. The movie belonged to the genre of superhero-vigilante films, opened to positive reviews, but was not a commercial success. Bhavesh Joshi Superhero was released along with Veere Di Wedding, which also affected its collection.
Mirzapur and Charlie Chopra & the Mystery of Solang Valley – Hit noted OTT appearances
Priyanshu Painyuli appeared in more than a dozen of Bollywood films and a few television shows. Yet still he is known by his superhero role. His role as Robin Agarwal in Mirzapur brought him to limelight once again. The first season was aired in 2020. He played the lead role of Robin Agarwal in 2023 mystery thriller series, Charlie Chopra & the Mystery of Solang Valley, where he shared screen space with Wamiqa Gabbi. The series received positive reviews from critics.
He played lead role in the web series, Shehar Lakhot (2023) which received mixed reviews. Bang Baaja Baaraat and Soulmates are his other TV appearances.
His Bollywood career post Bhavesh Joshi Superhero
Though he is not regular in Bollywood films, he frequently appears in web series and remains in spotlight. After Bhavesh Joshi Superhero, he appeared in a few films. But most films went unnoticed. He played a Bangladeshi crime lord in the Netflix film Extraction, which was one of his most satisfying roles as an actor.
He acted in the ‘The Couple’ segment in 2022 anthology film, Unpaused: Naya Safar, where he shared screen space with Shreya Dhanwanthary. High Jack, Once Again, Upstarts, Rashmi Rocket, Pippa, U-Turn and Tere Ishk Mein are his other Bollywood films in lead or supporting roles. He played the role of Ved in 2025 hit romantic film, Tere Ishk Mein. He married Vandana Joshi in 2020, whom he dated for 7 years.
