Movie Trivia: The new age version of Chattakari was directed by Santosh Sethumadhavan, the son of K. S. Sethumadhavan, who directed the original version with same name (1974 release). However the remake failed to recreate the magic created by original. The director Sethumadhavan directed its Hindi version titled Julie (1975), and the movie too was a big hit. Lakshmi played the lead role in Malayalam, Telugu & Hindi versions – all directed by Sethumadhavan.
