Puttu + Prawns Kumarakom (Steam Cake + Prawns Kumarakom)
Ingredients for Puttu (Steam Cake):
1. Rice flour for Puttu – ½ kg
Water – ¾ cup
2. Water – As required
3. Coconut scrapped – 1 cup
How to prepare Puttu (Steam Cake)?
1. Take rice flour in a big vessel and add salt.
2. Mix it well and add water slowly to soak the flour slowly.
3. Allow it to rest for a while.
4. Put a little scrapped coconut and flour to put maker to form 3 or 4 layers.
5. Steam cook for 10 minutes to prepare Puttu.
Ingredients for Prawns Kumarakom:
1. Prawns – 200 gm
2. Coconut oil – 2 small spoons
3. Green chillies – 3, end split
Ginger – ½ inch piece, chopped to match stick sized pieces
Garlic chopped fine – 1 small spoon
Curry leaves – 1 stalk
Turmeric powder – ½ small spoon
4. Water – 1 cup
5. Red chilli paste – 50 gm
6. Pot tamarind – 2 pieces
Salt – For taste
How to prepare Prawns Kumarakom?
1. Wash prawns well and keep aside.
2. Heat oil in a pan and sauté ingredients no: 3.
3. When it turns light brown, add water and allow the contents to boil.
4. Add chilli paste and boil well.
5. Add pot tamarind and salt and mix well.
6. Add prawns to this gravy, mix it and cook well.
