Mirnaa Menon alias Adithi Menon – Malayalam & Tamil film actress of ‘Big Brother’ fame

Mirnaa Menon alias Adithi Menon is an upcoming actress of south indian cinema, who marked her Malayalam screen debut with Malayalam movie, ‘Big Brother’ starring Mohanlal in the lead. She became a part of ensemble cast of the movie, which also featured actors like Arbaaz Khan, Anoop Menon, Honey Rose, Vishnu Unnikrishnan, Sarjano Khalid, Siddique and Irshad. The movie was directed by Siddique. Mirnaa Menon played female lead in the film. She has already done a few movie in Tamil. Her debut movie Pathahari was released in 2016, which was a flop, followed by Santhana Devan and Kalavani Mappillai (2018). She has signed one more Tamil project opposite Arya, and the movie is expected to release in 2020.

Mirnaa Menon received her first major break to films through a common friend

Mirnaa Menon hails from Idukki, Kerala and she is a computer science engineer. She lived for some time in Chennai. For the last few years she is settled in Kuwait with her parents.

Her entry to Malayalam films was just co-incidence. She was introduced to director Siddique through a common friend, Jyoti Menon, her family friend too. Jyoti and Siddique are good friends. One day Jyoti took her to Siddique’s office. Pre-production work of Big Brother was going on that time. Siddique told about the star cast and other details regarding the project, and Mirnaa eagerly listened to it. Next day she received a phone call from Siddique’s office, and Jyoti Menon was at caller’s end. That single phone call changed her life forever.

Jyoti suggested her to do a photoshoot. Within one hour Siddique’s team came and took her photoshoot. After a few hours Siddique personally called her and told her that she has been selected for the female lead and she is to star opposite Mohanlal. The movie was shot for more than 100 days, and she felt extremely comfortable with Mohanlal who played her hero. Her character name in the movie is Arya Shetty, and after her character arrives in the movie, Sachidanandan’s character (played by Mohanlal) go through some unexpected twists and turns.

She entered entertainment industry through Tamil cinema

She marked her screen debut through Tamil flick Pathahari in 2016. She played lead opposite Abhi Saravanan in this romantic flick. The movie was a flop. Later she had two more Tamil releases, which failed to give her recognition. She used the profession name, Adithi Menon for her Tamil debut. When she joined Malayalam cinema in 2019, she chose a new profession name, Mirnaa Menon. Thus she is known as Adithi Menon in Tamil cinema, and Mirnaa Menon in Malayalam cinema.

She has also done a movie in Tamil opposite Arya, before she was casted for Big Brother. When ‘Big Brother’ got released in January 2020, editing work of her Tamil flick is still going on. Title announcement is yet to happen.

Adithi Menon Tamil cinema controversy

She fell in love with Pathahari co-star Abhi Saravanan, and got secretly married in 2016. They got settled in Madhurai. However Abhi lodged a complaint that she took all jewels and moved to Kerala with her lover. He also released a video proving his version is true. Adithi stated that they were not married, and that documents were fake. She later filed a divorce from her side.

1. She is known as Adithi Menon in Tamil cinema, and Mirnaa Menon in Malayalam cinema. Her real name is Athira Santhosh.

2. When she faced camera for the first time for Malayalam film, ‘Big Brother’, in front of the camera was Bollywood actor Arbaaz Khan, who also marked his Malayalam debut. Her first shot was perfect without any retakes.

3. With the release of ‘Big Brother’ she joins the long list of Malayalam heroines who made their screen debuts opposite Mohanlal.

4. She secretly married her Pathahari co-star Abhi Saravanan long before she joined Malayalam cinema with a new name. However the actress denied the rumours. Later Abhi Saravanan released a video to prove his marriage with Menon, which had their wedding photo and a few intimate scenes.
