Mango Fruit Curry (Pazhutha Maanga Curry)

Ingredients for Mango Fruit Curry (Pazhutha Maanga Curry):

1. Green mango – 6

2. Jaggery grated – 4 tablespoons

3. Turmeric powder – 1 tsp

4. Chilli powder – 2 tsp

5. Salt – As required

6. Whipped curd- 1 cup

For gravy:

7. Coconut scrapped – 1 cup

8. Green chillies – 2

9. Cumin seeds – 1 tsp

10. Ginger – 1 tsp

11. Onions – 1

For tempering:

12. Coconut oil – 2 table spoons

13. Broken chillies – 2

14. Mustard – ½ tsp

15. Curry leaves – 12

16. Fenugreek seeds – ¼ tsp

How to prepare Mango Fruit Curry (Pazhutha Maanga Curry)?

1. Wash the mangoes and dry it well.

2. Remove the skin of mangoes.

3. Add jaggery, turmeric powder, chilli powder and salt.

4. Add half cup water also, and cook mangoes in medium flame for 10 minutes. Close the lid while cooking.

5. Make a fine paste of coconut, onion, green chillies, cumin seeds and ginger for gravy.  

6. Add this gravy to cooked mangoes and cook for two minutes.

7. Add curd and cook for 2 more minutes.

8. Heat coconut oil in a pan.

9. Sputter mustard seeds, fenugreek seeds and fry red chillies till they turn golden brown.

10. Add curry leaves switch off the flame.

11. Pour this oil on the top of the curry and serve.

Pazhutha Maanga Curry (Recipe 2)

Ingredients for Pazhutha Maanga Curry (Recipe 2):

1. Small Mangoes (Peeled) – 500g

    Water – 1 cup

    Green Chillies – 4, slit

    Chilli Powder – 1 tsp

    Turmeric Powder – 1/2 tsp

    Curry Leaves, Salt – As required

2. Coconut Milk – 1/2 cup

    Cumin Powder – 1/2 tsp

3. Coconut Oil – 4 tsp

4. Mustard Seeds – 1 tsp

   Dried Red Chillies – 2, split in half

How to prepare Pazhutha Maanga Curry (Recipe 2)?

1. Mix the first set of ingredients and cook well.

2. Remove from heat, add cumin powder and coconut milk, and stir well.

3. Heat coconut oil in a pan, splutter mustard seeds, then add dried red chillies and sauté.

4. Pour this seasoning over the curry, mix well, and serve.
