10+ Tips to reduce heat inside your home

Everyone loves to stay in a home full of light and air ventilation and of course, free of heat. In an era, where we talk a lot about global warming it’s really significant to know about a few techniques that reduce room temperature, and thus reduce your electricity bill as well. Let me provide a few tips for you.

1. Every one of us is attracted towards dark colours and deep shades. If you want to keep your home cool, keep yourself away from dark shades as they increase heat inside rooms. Paint your inner walls with white or other lights to make them appear spacious, brighter and of course, a cool affect that appeals your eyes and mind. Light colours can reduce heat as they absorb sunlight less.

2. If your rooms are over-exposed to sunlight and heat, give window curtains to wherever necessary to reduce the inflow of both excess heat and light. Give sunshades to windows at construction stage. It will surely reduce the direct flow of sunrays to rooms up to some extent.

3. On the terrace spread dried leaves of coconut and aracanut. They can reduce the temperature of your interior.

4. Now white polymer coat paints are available that can be painted on roofs. If we use normal paints on roofs they won’t expand corresponding to the expansion of slabs and may peel off after sometime. But plasticizer paints are elastic and they expand in accordance with the elasticity of slabs.

5. Fix pavement tiles in your courtyard. You can plant grass like a green carpet too. Both these measures can reduce heat considerably.

6. Thick and dark coloured curtains increase room temperature while thin and light shades, particularly cotton curtains reduce heat.

7. Gardening in the courtyard and placing a few plants in veranda and sit out give coolness to your room. Same is the case of shady trees. They provide fresh air to breathe.

8. Wooden and tile flooring of interior can reduce room temperature. You can use natural stones too.

9. Lights, television, washing machine and other electric equipment increase room temperature a little bit while operating. So switch off electric appliances when not in use. They can reduce room temperature as well as your electric bills.

10. You can do tress work in the terrace of your concrete building. You can use tiles or sheets for providing the roof. It reduces the heat of home considerably. In addition to it, this area can be used for many purposes too; for example, to dry clothes, a study space for kids, a reading space or as a family get-together.
