I still remember I watched the movie while I was studying at school, and Doordarshan had just started to show movies at Friday 9 pm on Fridays in 1994. I think I have watched the movie one time earlier during my early childhood, so not sure enough. When I watched the movie, I can’t tell you what I felt. No doubt, no other movie could leave an impression on me like Aradhana even after 20 years since I watched the movie in 1994. Though I watched the movie around 25 years after release, and had a generation gap, such factors couldn’t influence my attraction to this movie, its script and wonderful songs, which still remains my favourite. As this movie and its crew are so special to my heart, I would like to begin my new Bollywood blog with my favourite Bollywood film – Aradhana.

I need to add, I had a sleepless night when my dearest star passed away in July 2012 after batting against cancer for a long time. It seems his iconic character in Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s classic – Anand crept into his real life as well. A strange and unpleasant co-incidence!
