Ganga Sasidharan – The Child Indian Violinist

Ganga started learning the violin when she was four and a half
Ganga Sasidharan was born in Guruvayur, Thrissur to Sasidharan and Krishnaveni. She has an elder brother, Maheswar. As a toddler, her mother used to make her listen to the violin pieces played by acclaimed violinist Balabhaskar, and she was deeply moved by it. Ganga Sasidharan started learning violin at the age of 4 ½, and by the age of 11, she became a child celebrity in Kerala. She is studying at AUPS Ayiroor, Veliyancode in nearby Malappuram District. She got good support from her family, who played a major role in establishing her as a known face of Kerala.
The violinist immerses herself fully into the music while performing
Apart from being an extremely talented artist, Ganga Sasidharan gained popularity and attention, the way she dissolves into music while performing. Her expression of eyes, body language and sweet smile without fear enthral audience and takes them to another world of peace and joy, a quality which only a few artists have.
Currently, Ganga Sasidharan is also learning Carnatic music from an Ernakulam-based musician, Nandakishore, through online sessions. Every day she trains for at least 2 hours a day and her training starts from 5.30 am. Apart from music, she also wants to fly as a pilot. With her growing fan base, she is pursuing her dreams with a clear vision during her pre-teen. Ganga has performed in over a hundred venues outside Kerala and also did her first international concert at Dubai.
Author’s note:
I have been deeply moved many times when I watch her performance videos and the way young Ganga has performed on stage. The way she hits every note perfect has surprised me many times. Her performances always remind me of the late artist Balabhaskar, whom I admire fondly and share a personal sibling bonding, though we never met.
When I came to know Ganga Sasidharan was first inspired by Bala, my happiness saw no limits. But many times, I badly miss those precious moments when these two talented artists could have shared the stage together. It’s a great loss to Malayalis and all music lovers indeed. Yet I strongly believe Baluettan is watching her from heaven, rejoicing her performances and by showering his blessings always.
