Queen fish (Neymeen) is good for the preparation of this Fish Biryani recipe. You can also try this Fish Biryani dish with fish with flesh, any type.
Ingredients for Fish Biryani:
- Neymeen (Queen fish) – 1/2 kg (10 pieces)
- Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
- Chilli powder – 1 tsp
- Salt – as needed
- Oil – Needed for frying
- Onion sliced – 4
- Crushed green chillies – 10
- Ginger crushed – 4 inch piece
- Garlic – 2 clusters
- Coriander leaves – 50 gm
- Coconut paste – 1/2 of a coconut
- Curd – 1 cup
- Kaima rice (Jeera rice) – 1/2 kg
- Garam masala powder – 1 tsp
- Ghee – 1 tsp
Method of preparation of Fish Biryani:
- Marinate fish pieces with salt, pepper and turmeric powder.
- Fry them and keep them aside. Never over-fry them.
- In the remaining oil, saute onion, green chillies, ginger, garlic and coriander leaves.
- Add coconut paste and curd and saute again.
- Add fish pieces and cook with some curry remaining. (Never dry it )
- Heat the ghee and fry the rice.
- Add double the quantity of water, add salt, and half-cook it. Drain water and keep aside.
- Spread the half-cooked rice on a plate and add some garam masala powder. Spread a few fish pieces on top.
- Again, add a layer of rice and spread some fish.
- Thus, make a few layers of rice and fish curry.
- Bake in the oven at 325 degrees Fahrenheit.
