Darshan Raval – Bollywood singer, lyricist and composer

Darshan Raval is a singer, composer and lyricist associated with Bollywood, Gujarati cinema as well as independent music. He was the first runner-up of Raw Star 2014, the singing talent hunt show after which he came to limelight. Tera zikr and Shab tum ho are his most popular singles which went viral. Jab Tum Chaho from Prem Ratan Dhan Payo and Kheech Meri Photo from Sanam Teri Kasam are his early hits from Bollywood, followed by songs of Loveyatri (“Chogada”), Mitron (“Kamariya”), Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga (title track) etc. He is also regular in singing for TV shows.

Darshan Raval was born in 1994 in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. He started off his musical journey by uploading cover versions of popular Bollywood songs which gained him popularity. After becoming runner-up at India’s Raw Star in 2014, he was given the first break to Bollywood by Himesh Reshammiya through the duet song, Jab Tum Chaho of Prem Ratan Dhan Payo. After that offers started pouring in. He also came to spotlight through his hit singles – Tera zikr and Shab tum ho, apart from cover versions on YouTube.

Darshan Raval – Some interesting and less-known facts

1. He has more than 1.3 million followers on Instagram and he got recognition as a singer and musician at a young age.

2. He lost to Rituraj Mohanty in the final round of Raw Star. But the show established him as a singer.

3. Himesh Reshammiya is his mentor who gave him some beautiful songs like Kheech Meri Photo from Sanam Teri Kasam, Jab Tum Chaho of Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, Main Woh Chand and Bekhudi of Teraa Surroor.

4. He studied in a boarding school where kids take up some extra-curricular activity. When he failed to pick up anything, he got hooked up with music. He started with listening to students practising music and later wanted to write songs.
