chinese porridge - Chinese Congee

Ingredients for Chinese Congee:

1. Shallots chopped and fried – 2 big spoons

2. Green chillies chopped into round shapes – 1 big spoon

3. Celery chopped fine – 1 big spoon

4. Spring onion chopped fine – 1 big spoon

5. Ginger chopped thin lengthwise – 1 big spoon, mixed with one big spoon of soya sauce

6. Dried fish (salted) – 50 gm, roasted and powdered

7. Egg – 2, scrambled

8. Water – 2 cups

9. Oats – 1 cup

How to prepare Chinese Congee?

1. Place ingredients 1 to 7 in small serving bowls.

2. Boil water and add oats.

3. When it turns thick as porridge, turn off the flame. But it should not be too thick.

4. Pour oats porridge into a big serving bowl and place it inside a big serving plate.

5. Place small bowls inside the serving plate in a row and serve.

6. You can take items from small serving bowls, add them to the porridge, and serve.
