Chicken Pie with Potato Pastry Recipe
Ingredients for Chicken Pie:
1. Medium-sized chicken boneless – 1 (make small pieces)
2. Salt – as needed
Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp
Vinegar – 1.5 big spoons
Green papaya paste – ½ inch piece
3. Oil – 4 big spoons
4. Onion finely chopped – 2
5. Ginger-garlic paste – 2 tsp
Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp
Tomato cut into small pieces after skin removed – 2
6. Green chillies chopped – 4
Chilli powder – ½ tsp
Pepper powder – ½ tsp
7. Coriander leaves – 4 dessert spoons
8. Cinnamon and cloves, powdered – ¼ tsp
How to prepare Chicken Pie?
- Immerse the tomato in boiling water for 2-3 minutes to remove its skin easily. Then make it into pieces.
- Marinate chicken pieces using ingredients 2.
- Heat the oil and sauté the onions. When it’s done, add ingredients one by one and sauté again. You can add water if needed.
- Add marinated chicken pieces and stir well.
- Add ingredients 6 to it and keep stirring till the chicken is cooked.
- Add coriander leaves and cinnamon-cloves powder, and mix well. Take the chicken pie from the flame.
Ingredients for Potato Pastry:
- Maida – 300 gm
- Salt – as per taste
- Pepper powder – ¼ small tsp
- Butter – 150 gm
- Potato cooked and smashed well – 300 gm
- Water – a little
How to prepare Potato Pastry?
- Pre-heat oven to 180 degrees.
- Blend well maida, salt and pepper powder.
- Use fingertips to add butter to it and make the mixture like bread crumbs.
- Now mix the potato along with a little water into the above mixture and make a ball.
- Take an aluminium tray and apply a little butter to its surface.
- Divide the potato ball into two halves.
- Make a rectangular shape from one half and place it in an oven dish. Place chicken filling on its top.
- Make another rectangular piece from the remaining potato ball and place it on the top of the chicken filling as a second layer.
- Using a fork, press its edges to join two pieces.
- On the top portion too, prick it using a fork so that vapours evaporate easily.
- Mix an egg white with some milk and pour it on top.
- In a pre-heated oven, bake for 35-40 minutes. Your chicken pie with potato pastry is ready to serve.
