Ilakoottu Curry (Leafy Dal)

Ingredients for Ilakoottu Curry (Leafy Dal ):

1. Green gram/Red gram – 1 cup 

2. Grated coconut – 1 cup 

    Shallots – 3 

    Garlic – 2 cloves 

    Green chillies – 2 

    Turmeric powder – A pinch 

3. Coconut oil – 2 tablespoons 

4. Mustard seeds – 1 teaspoon 

    Urad dal – 1 tablespoon 

    Chana dal – 1 tablespoon 

    Dried red chillies – 2 

5. Finely chopped pumpkin leaves or colocasia leaves – 2 cups 

6. Salt – As required 

How to prepare Ilakoottu Curry (Leafy Dal )?

1. Cook the soaked red cow peas without letting them overcooked. 

2. Grind the second set of ingredients and set aside. 

3. Heat oil in a pan and temper the fourth set of ingredients. 

4. Add the cooked peas, leaves, salt to taste, and the ground mixture. Stir well on low heat. 

5. Delicious and nutritious side dish is ready.
