Vasisht Umesh – Malayalam child artist of ‘Minnal Murali’ fame

Vasisht Umesh is a child artist associated with Malayalam films. After marking his screen debut with Nivin Pauly starrer Love Action Drama in 2019, he appeared in Tovino Thomas’s nephew in ‘Minnal Murali’ (2021), which shot him to instant fame. He also appeared in a few TV commercials.

Vasisht Umesh acts in school plays

Vasisht hails from Shornur and studies in AUP school. Both his parents are school teachers. He got into acting through school plays. He got his first break at the age of 9.

In 2019 he played childhood role of Aju Varghese in Love Action Drama. He was also seen in the popular song, Kudukk Pottiya Kuppayam of the movie. Yet the movie which earned him the real recognition was ‘Minnal Murali’, which was originally meant to release in 2020, and got delayed due to Covid 19 pandemic. It’s the first super-hero movie in Mollywood, and opened to positive reviews.

The director Basil Joseph was impressed by Vasisht seeing him in Kudukk Pottiya Kuppayam song and offered him a full-length role in Minnal Murali.

1. In his debut movie, Vasisht played Aju Varghese’s childhood role, and in his second film, ‘Minnal Murali’, he played Aju’s son.

2. He appeared in first children’s film made in Sanskrit, Madhura Smitham.

3. He shared screen space with former cricketer Yuvraj Singh for the promotional video of the movie, Minnal Murali. He went to Mumbai for its shoot. Cricketer shared a photo he clicked with Vasisht and captioned, South Indian Superstar, which went viral.

4. He is brilliant in academics, and he earned LSS (scholarship) attending the exams, going from shooting location. He spent 120 days for shooting in different locations like Kuthattukulam, Vagamon, Wyanad, Hassan etc.
