Karishma Tanna – Popular TV actress of Naagarjuna – Ek Yodha fame

Karishma Tanna is a very popular and successful television actress and TV host, who works in Hindi soaps. Her lead role in Qayamat Ki Raat, and supporting roles in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi and Naagarjuna – Ek Yodha made her a household name among Hindi TV viewers. She has also appeared in hit Bollywood films – Grand Masti and Sanju. Tanna is also a very successful model who has endorsed products like Nirma, Stayfree, Lifebuoy etc. She is one of the early successful stars of Hindi soap era, right from the beginning with Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. She has been a part of several reality shows on television such as Bigg Boss 8, Nach Baliye, Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa etc.

Karishma Tanna was born in Mumbai in 1983 into a Gujarati family. She got her first break to television through Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi in 2000 at the age of 17. She played the character role of Indu in this longest running soap drama. It was followed by Kahi To Milenge during 2002-2003. She bagged her first lead role through Koi Dil Mein Hai as Krutika, and since then has been a regular face on small screen. Her role as Nagin in fantasy show Naagarjuna – Ek Yoddha was well-received. She marked her film debut with Dosti: Friends Forever in 2005 playing the brief role of Nandini Thapar, and was later seen in Grand Masti and Sanju.

Karishma Tanna – Some interesting and less-known facts

1. She dated Bollywood actor Upen Patel since 2014 and also got engaged. But they split in 2016. They contested as a pair for Nach Baliye – season 7.

2. Apart from Upen Patel, her name has been linked with Bappa Lahiri (musician Bappi Lahiri’s son), Model Hanif Hilal and restaurateur Rushab Choksi.

3. She shared screen space with Ranbir Kapoor for the very popular song – “Mujhe Chaand Pe Le Chalo” from the movie Sanju. She played the cameo appearance of an air hostess named Pinky in this movie.

4. She made her theatre debut in 2006 with Perfect Wedding, directed by Vandana Sajnani.

5. She was a contestant of Bigg Boss 8 in 2014 and finished as first runner-up. Her verbal fights with other contestants led to many controversies too. Interestingly she also attended cooking classes as a sort of preparation before she joined the house.

6. She has played lead role in one Kannada film, I Am Sorry Mathe Banni Preethsona in 2011 opposite Prem Kumar. It’s her single south Indian movie.

7. She has been a part of erotic movies – Tina & Lolo and Grand Masti, playing parallel leads in both. She played parallel lead with Sunny Leone in Tina & Lolo, and the movie is yet to be released.

8. In 2012 she shot topless for the cover page of FHM Magazine’s September issue, which irked many.
