Vijay Velukutty – Tamil film editor

Vijay Velukutty is a film editor and stunt editor associated with Tamil movies since 2014. He also directed one award winning short film, ‘Koothu’ which bagged 2015 Platinum Film of the Year award at the India Film Project. He shot and completed the short film in 50 hours. Aindhaam Thalaimurai Sidha Vaidhiya Sigamani, Naan Thaan Bala, Thiranthidu Seese, Sethu Boomi, Sangu Chakkaram, 6 Athiyayam, Katha Solla Porom, Kaathadi, Jackpot, Rombha Nallavan Da Nee, Gulaebaghavali etc are his film works as an editor.

Vijay Velukutty hails from Chennai, Tamil Nadu and was born in 1987. He began his career journey in cinema as an assistant editor and worked for more than 80 films for Suresh Urs before he got his first independent project, Aindhaam Thalaimurai Sidha Vaidhiya Sigamani in 2014. Since then he has handled more than a dozen of films as a film editor as well as stunt editor.

Vijay Velukutty – Some interesting and less-known facts

1. He worked as the stunt editor of award winning Malayalam film, Kammatipaadam. It’s his single work outside Tamil film industry since he began his career as an independent editor.

2. As an assistant under Suresh Urs he has edited movies like Naan Kadavul and Billa 2 and worked in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Bengali languages.

3. He has been frequently associated with director Kalyaan since 2016, who scripted his short film, Koothu.
