Neeraj Sood – Character artist of Bollywood films and Hindi soaps
Neeraj Sood plays supporting and character roles on Hindi big screen and small screen. After graduating from NSD in 1999, he joined television industry as an actor the same year, and played some of the memorable character roles in both Bollywood films and Hindi soaps for the past two decades or so. He has been a part of well-known movies such as Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year, Band Baaja Baarat, Samay and Shubh Mangal Saavdhan. His debut film Kali Salwar released in 2002 was screened at many international film festivals.
Neeraj Sood was born in Mandi, Himachal Pradesh into a middle-class family. It was only during his graduation and post-graduation days at Vallabh Govt College, Mandi he realized his true passion of acting. He has been a part of a few college days those days. He enrolled at NSD in 1996, completed his graduation in 1999 and moved to Mumbai soon after. Very soon he bagged his first television role through Missing aired on Sony TV, and started getting television roles after that.
He marked his screen debut in 2002 and played a few less-significant and uncredited roles earlier. It took a few more years for Neeraj to establish in the industry. Till now he has appeared in more than 25 Bollywood films and 25+ TV shows. He played a florist in Band Baaja Baarat and Bhumi Pednekar’s father in Shubh Mangal Saavdhan.
Neeraj Sood – Some interesting and less-known facts
1. He wrote entrance exams at NSD for 5 consecutive times so that he could save half amount of fees. He cleared the exams in the 6th attempt after 5 unsuccessful ones.
2. While he was studying at NSD, his father didn’t have enough money to pay the fees. Yet Neeraj focussed only to complete his studies and succeed as an actor.
3. He is frequently featured in TV ads, and has appeared in ads of Birla Cement, Cadbury Eclairs, Docomo, Perk, Kala Hit etc.
4. He shared screen space with Big B for Cadbury Miss Palanpur ad, and Nayi Soch ad campaign alongside Aamir Khan.
