Filmmaker Manjari Makijany – Mac Mohan’s daughter
Manjari Makijany is an international award winning film director, producer and writer associated with Bollywood films and American fans. She is the daughter of iconic villain of yesterdays, Mac Mohan – Samba of Sholay fame. Bollywood actress Raveena Tandon is her paternal cousin. Manjari directed the award winning short films – The Last Marble (2012) and The Corner Table (2014). She also directed I See You (2016), a dramatic thriller about a suicide bomber.
Manjari Makijany hails from Mumbai. Following her father’s footsteps she too reached film industry though working behind the camera. Initially worked as an assistant director, she made her first short film, The Last Marble (2012) which was screened at more than 30 international film festivals. Her second short film The Corner Table (2014) also opened to rave reviews from critics. It was an ‘Official Selection’ of the Emerging Filmmakers Showcase at the American Pavilion – Cannes Film Festival, and the only woman filmmaker to receive this honour.

1. She has worked as a set designer and assistant director in Bollywood before foraying into direction.
2. She has worked as an assistant director of Bollywood movies like Wake Up Sid, Saat Khoon Maaf etc, followed by two international projects.
3. Her debut short film The Last Marble was a silent film without any dialogues which won ‘Best Film’ at Indian Film Festival of Melbourne.
4. Tom Alter won ‘Best Actor’ and ‘Special Jury Mention’ at the Dada Saheb Phalke Film Festival 2014 for her second short film, The Corner Table.
