Amit Mistry – Popular Hindi actor of ‘Bandish Bandits’ fame

Amit Mistry was a popular character artist associated with Hindi and Gujarati entertainment industry. He appeared in films, plays, web series and TV shows, playing supporting roles. He is best known for playing a musician in his last work, ‘Bandish Bandits’ which marked his debut in web series. His role as Akbar in TV series Tenali Rama and Tipu in  Shor in the City were widely appreciated. He passed away on 23rd April, 2021 following a massive heart attack. He was 47.

He mostly played small but memorable roles

Amit Mistry was quite popular for his presence in Gujarati and Hindi theatre since 1990s. He marked his big screen debut with Bollywood film, Kya Kehna in 2000, playing one among the siblings of Priety Zinta. Later he mostly played bit roles for a decade till he got the most memorable of Tipu in  Shor in the City, released in 2010. He was also seen in Ek Chalis Ki Last Local, 99, Yamla Pagla Deewana, A Gentleman etc playing small roles.

In 2001, he marked his small screen debut through Ssshhhh…Koi Hai where he appeared in an episode. He appeared in more than a half-dozen of TV shows such as Shubh Mangal Savadhan, Tenali Rama, Dafa 420, Maddam Sir etc. He shot to fame with the web series, ‘Bandish Bandits’.

Amit Mistry – Some interesting and less-known facts

1. He was interested in music and plays guitar too.

2. Best known as an actor, he has directed one short film, ‘Two Cubes Please’ in 2013 and also wrote dialogues for ‘What’s Your Rashee?’ (2009).

3. He was inclined to spirituality and associated with organisation, Brahma Kumaris.

4. He underwent PRP treatment in 2019.

5. He extensively worked with filmmakers Raj and DK, and known for the roles – Bhuval Ram Kuber (99), Tipu (Shor In the City), Jignesh Patel (A Gentleman), Prakhaand Pandit (Project No. 12) etc.
