Manasi Parekh Gohil is an Indian actress of Gujarati origin. She works in television and films, and also has experience in theatre. She is a trained singer and has also appeared in a few television ads. She is a successful name in Hindi television. Her roles as Gulaal in Star Plus’s Zindagi Ka Har Rang…Gulaal and Maya in Sumit Sambhal Lega, made her a household name among television audiences.
She is an established actress in Gujarati cinema, and in 2022, she became the first actress to win the National Award for Gujarati Cinema. She won the National Award for Best Actress for her performance in the 2021 film, Kutch Express. She shared the honour with the South Indian actress, Nithya Menen. Manasi Parekh is married to the famous playback singer and musician Parthiv Gohil.

Her early days in the entertainment industry
She was born on July 10, 1986, in Mumbai. But she is of Ahmedabad, Gujarat origin. Though she was brought up in Mumbai, she never forgot her roots. Her cultural inclination towards Gujarat has never diluted, and been a huge fan of Purshottam Upadhyaya. She grew up learning music, and later actively participated in Gujarati theatre too.
She completed her graduation in English Literature and Indian Classical Music. Though she took formal training in music, she later pursued acting as she felt it was a creative work. She is a trained classical singer and has won Zee TV’s singing reality show Star Ya Rockstar. She was a finalist of the show, Pop Star (Season 2) in 2003.
She had a brief modelling career and has been featured in TV ads. The television series, ‘Kitni Mast Hai Zindagi,’ marked her acting debut in 2005. The ensemble cast of this teen drama also included well-known television artists, Panchi Bora, Yash Tonk, Karan Singh Grover, and Barkha Sengupta, who went on to establish their respective acting careers.
Manasi Parekh became extremely popular through the shows, Zindagi Ka Har Rang…Gulaal and Sumit Sambhal Lega, where she played the protagonist. Remote Control, Kuch Toh Log Kahenge, Laughter Ke Phatke, Saraswatichandra, Ishq Kills and Sapna Babul Ka…Bidaai are her other major works on television.
Manasi marked her big screen debut with South Indian Cinema in 2012
After tasting success with Hindi television, Manasi Parekh marked her big screen debut with the Tamil movie Leelai. where she played the lead role of Karunai Malar. She was paired opposite another debutant, Shiv Pandit. Though the movie was a delayed release, it gathered critics’ appreciation and was a box office hit. The movie also got noticed for its songs.
She joined the Gujarati entertainment industry in 2019
In 2019, she became a film producer with the Gujarati web series Do Not Disturb. The following year, she made a successful film debut with the Gujarati film Golkeri. After that, she is busy in Gujarati cinema, and has appeared in a dozen of films – Dear Father, Kutch Express, Congratulations, Ittaa Kittaa, Jhamkudi, Shubhchintak, Maharani, Laalo – Krishna Sada Sahaayate, Misri, Jab Khuli Kitaab, etc.
Her horror comedy film Jhamkudi (2024) was a commercial success. She won the National Award for Best Actress for the film Kutch Express. Thus, she became the first actress to bring this honour to Gujarati cinema.

1. Manasi is a trained classical singer, and she, along with her husband, has sung for the 2002 movie, Devdas.
2. Her Bollywood debut film, ‘Yeh Kaisi Life’, premiered at the IFFI Festival in Goa.
3. She is active in blogging, and her blogs primarily focus on travel and poems. Travel, photography and writing are other hobbies of Manasi.
4. She was a participant of Channel V’s Pop Star (Season 2) in 2003, where she was one of the 8 finalists alongside Ayushman Khurrana.
5. As a theatre artist, the theatre plays, Maru Piyu Gayu Rangoon and Bahut Nachiyo Gopal, she earned appreciation.
6. As a singer, she launched her music album with a few experiments of fusion – Tum Bhi Na.
7. She played a brief role in the Bollywood film Laaga Chunari Mein Daag, playing Konkana’s Colleague.
