10+ Simple things to note while painting your house

A home without colours is like a lamp without electricity. Though it’s a new home, if it’s not properly painted quite matching with its interior, it resembles an old home with or without a little bit renovation. You can also change an old home to new by giving some bright and attractive colours with different patterns and shades. If painting is done as per latest trend, what more to say! While beautifying your home with colours just take note of these points. Read in detail about common doubts related to painting and repainting.

1. Give cool colours to bed rooms and living rooms. Dark shades can add strain to your eyes as well as body parts.

2. Dark colours make rooms appear small while light colours make them wider and bright. Light colours reflect light while dark shades absorb them.

3. Paints and health are mutually linked. VOC content of paints is dangerous to health. VOC is a substance added to paints to make them more bright and shiny. It also dries paint soon.

4. VOC is emitted most when the paints begin to dry. It’s also to be noted that dark colours have more VOC content and hence avoid dark colours for your bedrooms.

5. Apart from VOC, lead and cadmium contents of paints are also harmful. So, keep paints away from kids even if it’s unused or waste.

6. During re-painting of your home, dark colours add extra cost. So, while choosing dark colours for your interior, think twice about the expenses that can be added later for maintenance and renovation.

7. You can choose dark colours for highlighting certain areas, a wall or small space. Painting a wall of your living room with a bright colour can give you a bright morning. Now design paints with attractive patterns are also available that can be used for painting a wall of your kid’s room.

8. Remember, dark colours can give you restlessness. So, never paint most used areas of kitchen or wall opposite your bed with dark colours. Instead of using dark paints, colourful glassware and containers can make your kitchen more attractive and pleasant.

9. Till paint dries completely, keep doors and windows open. It’s better not to stay in such rooms till whole paint is dried completely. VOC content is high during the drying process which adversely affects health.

10. The painter should wear a mask while he is doing the process and should avoid body contact with paint as much as possible.

11. Always plan in advance and choose time for painting when humidity is less, free of rains and cold weather. Dry weather condition allows paint to dry easily and paint adhere on to wall surface as well.
