Kavitha Jose is a less-known actress of Mollywood, who gained recognition with her single release – Pakalppooram in 2002. She played parallel lead aside Geethu Mohandas in this iconic horror film. She is a doctor in profession and is currently busy in her second innings as an actress. Her husband Roshan is also a former actor of Malayalam cinema, who worked as both child actor and character artist in a few films.

Kavitha Jose was a junior doctor when appeared in Pakalppooram

Kavitha Jose was born to Jose Njellimakkal into a Christian family. Jose is an art enthusiast who supported his daughter’s acting dreams. Since childhood, Kavitha dreamt about becoming an actress and was quite active in cultural events and competitions.

Kavitha had just completed her MBBS and joined Baby Memorial Hospital in Kozhikode as a junior practitioner when she got her first film offer through Pakalppooram. Though she was hesitated a bit, her father encouraged her to take the role.

The horror comedy – Pakalppooram was directed by Anil Babu duo who has earlier directed a series of movies with actor Jagadeesh like Welcome to Kodaikanal, Injakkadan Mathai & Sons, Sakshal Sreeman Chathunni, Sreedhanam etc in the 1990s. Kavitha Jose shared screen space with Mukesh and Geethu Mohandas in the film, which earned a cult status later. Her character name was Anamika.

Though she received more offers, including a few from Tamil, she decided to concentrate on to her family life and left the cine field. Though she immensely loved cinema and acting, her priorities changed, and she buried her acting dreams.

She is married to actor Roshan, a doctor by physician

Kavitha Jose met doctor Roshan while she was working in BMH. From friendship to marriage, it’s a story of a strong bond and mutual understanding. It happened with the approval of parents.

Roshan has worked in a few films since late 1980s. He marked his screen debut with Sibi Malayil’s Doore Doore Oru Koodu Koottam. Roshan is the child who portrayed the student in the movie, troubling Mohanlal (who plays teacher) asking the meaning of ‘Upmaavu’ to which Mohanlal’s character responses in an iconic dialogue – Salt Mango Tree.

Roshan portrayed the childhood role of Aaromal Chekavar (played by Suresh Gopi on screen) in Oru Vadakkan Veeragadha. He also played the childhood character of Kuttan Thampuran in Sargam. He later appeared in Mayookham, Classmates, Pazhassi Raja, Aakasham etc. Furthermore, he later completed his MBBS and MD, and currently serving as the director of CRC, Kozhikode. Similar to Kavitha, when he turned busy with personal and professional life, he slowly forgot cinema.

The couple is blessed with three children, born as triplets – 2 boys and a girl. It was not that easy for the couple to bring up three kids. Kavitha also had some complications during delivery, which is quite possible with triplets. She was not willing to go with procedures like embryo reduction, though it was risky to carry three kids.

Kavitha Jose has returned to acting in 2025

After 23 years of hiatus, Kavitha has returned to acting through the movie Pathu Maasam in 2025. The movie had an OTT Release in Manorama MAX. Her daughter Raiza also played an important role in the film.

Apart from her professional life as a physician, Kavitha Jose is an entrepreneur, writer, builder and interior designer. She is quite busy in her professional life. She received full support from her husband and father to start her second innings in acting.
