Govind Padmasoorya is a noted artist from Malayalam cinema and television. He has done both lead and supporting roles in Malayalam cinema. He is also a popular television actor and anchor. He co-hosted the first two seasons of D 4 Dance reality show on Mazhavil Manorama which made him popular. He was doing his final year graduation when he got offer for his first film. He had the experience of just one music video. He has been married to noted television actress, Gopika Anil since 2024.

Padmasoorya made an impressive debut in Malayalam cinema at the age of 19

Padmasoorya was born on 16 June 1987 in Pattambi, Palakkad. His father, Govindan, worked as a manager in Catholic Syrian Bank, while his mother, Malathy, was a telecom employee. Govind Padmasoorya completed an MBA at Whistling Woods International, Mumbai, before foraying into films.

Govind Padmasoorya marked his screen debut with M G Sasi’s directorial debut, Adayalangal in 2008. He was only a teenager then. He didn’t have any acting experience before it, except appearing in a music video. He played the lead role of autobiographical character of Nandanar, a film based on Nandanar’s autobiography Anubhavangal. He did detailed research work about this historical personality before doing this film. The movie garnered 5 Kerala State Film Awards in 2008, including Best Film, director and cinematography. But the film was not a box office hit.

Later he was seen doing notable supporting roles in Mollywood

He got a noted role of Suresh Gopi’s younger brother in B. Unnikrishnan’s IG. His role as Sreekanth, an Indian cricketer, in Mammootty starrer Daddy Cool also got noticed. He played the lead role in 2015 mystery thriller, 32aam Adhyayam 23aam Vaakyam. The film received mixed reviews. Neeraja, Manorajyam, Pretham, Shefeekkinte Santhosham, Varsham etc are some of the movies in which he appeared.

He shifted to television and earned success as a TV host

In 2014 he joined television industry as a TV host and co-hosted the show, D 4 Dance with Jewel Mary, which was successful. Next year he co-hosted the reality show, Gum on D2 with Pearle Maaney. Both the shows aired on Mazhavil Manorama earned him immense success, and he went on to co-host many award nights for Asianet Television. He also co-hosted the show, Dare The Fear for Aisanet during 2017-2018.

Later he successfully hosted many TV shows for different channels like Anantharam, Bzinga, Bzinga Family Festival etc. He also appeared in Bigg Boss 3 in 2021. He was featured in a few music videos too. He acted in Allu Arjun starrer Telugu film, Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo.
