Frogs serve us a lot! But humans are ignorant

By chance, if we see a frog jumping on our way, we may be irritated by its looks and appearance. Many people use it as food, yet for most of us, it’s a creature that we hate most. We may hesitate to touch it too. But do you know these creatures are scavengers of our nature and they serve us in multiple ways? And sad part is that their number has already started shrinking.

April 27 – A day dedicated for frogs

Yes, frogs are lovely creations of god that kills pests and mosquitoes around us, thus protecting us from dreadful diseases like typhoid, malaria and dengue fever. To create awareness program among people, frog lovers celebrate April 27 as Frog day and ‘Save the frog’ is their slogan. Kids love to see them as toys or as animated or cartoon characters. We have seen them singing and dancing in many animations. But truth is that many of the species of these scavengers have faded from earth’s surface within a decade or so. Modernization and construction of flats have reduced the agricultural lands and number of such creatures considerably. Another factor is frog hunting and shrinking of water bodies.

If frogs of a particular area have seen a drastic come down in a period, it can be confirmed that that area is polluted. Also many creatures such as snakes live on this earth that solely depends on frogs for food. According to habitat, different types of frogs exist. Some frogs like poison dart frog has been used to produce antibiotics and pain killers. So, it’s the duty of us human beings to protect these living beings on earth.

Frogs and humans co-existed since they were born

It’s believed that frogs originated 3.6 million years ago and they have been living with us in the same habitat from the day man came to this world. As long as they mutually helped each other, both were benefitted and when men started killing him for selfish benefits, their number has seen a drastic come down.  Modernization of man has caused hindrance to breeding of this species, another reason for their reduced number. So, you can build natural ponds in your courtyard and agricultural fields to promote the growth of frogs and similar living beings. By doing so, we are protecting ourselves from the dreadful effects of malaria and similar harmful diseases.
