Cheera – Paripp Thoran (Spinach – Dal Thoran)
Ingredients for Cheera – Paripp Thoran (Spinach – Dal Thoran):
1. Toor dal (Pigeon pea) – ¼ kg
2. Spinach – 1 bundle
3. Green chillies – 3
Turmeric powder – 1 tsp
Coconut scrapped – 6 tablespoons
Shallots – 4
Garlic – 3 cloves
Cumin seeds – A pinch
4. Coconut oil – 2 able spoons
5. Mustard – 1 tsp
How to prepare Cheera – Paripp Thoran (Spinach – Dal Thoran)?
1. Cook the dal. Never overcook it.
2. Chop spinach into fine pieces.
3. Blend ingredients no: 3 in a mixer for thoran. Never over grind it.
4. Heat oil in a pan and sputter mustard seeds.
5. Sauté the coconut mixture for a while and add chopped spinach.
6. When spinach is cooked, add dal and put off the flame.
