Wheat Appam (Gothamb Podi Appam)
Ingredients for Wheat Appam (Gothamb Podi Appam):
1. Yeast – ½ small spoon
Sugar – ½ small spoon
2. Hot water – ½ cup
3. Wheat flour – 2 cups, blended
4. Salt – As required
5. Coconut milk – ¾-1 cup
6. Coconut milk – ½-¾ cup
How to prepare Wheat Appam (Gothamb Podi Appam)?
1. Mix yeast and sugar in warm water and place aside. Allow it to rise.
2. Take wheat flour in a bowl and make a pit at centre.
3. Add yeast mixture and salt to it.
4. Slowly mix wheat flour, adding ¾-1 cup coconut milk and prepare thick batter for appam.
5. Close the lid and allow the batter to ferment for 4-6 hours.
6. Add ½-3/4 cup of thin coconut milk to make thin batter.
7. Heat the appam maker (pan) and pour one ladle of batter.
8. Rotate it once to get perfect round shape.
9. Close the lid and cook, as normal appam.
10. Serve with some stew or any curry of your choice.
