Vineeth Anil and his Doordarshan days

Vineeth Anil hails from Manacaud, Thiruvananthapuram. His father, Anil, is a film distributor and has also worked as the manager of the company Jubilee. He still serves as the Vice President of the Trivandrum Distributors’ Association. That is how Vineeth entered the film industry.

Vineeth began acting at the age of four. Thaniyavarthanam (1987) was his debut film, in which he played Mammootty’s son. After that, he appeared in Sibi Malayil’s Ezhuthappurangal. He portrayed Mohanlal’s childhood role in Vasthuhara. In an interview, Vineeth mentioned that being an actor brought him a lot of privileges at school. As a child artist, he remained active in the industry for 12 years. Though he wished to continue in films, his parents wanted him to complete his education first.

He also acted in many popular Doordarshan serials. His lead role as the elder brother who gets separated from his sister in Oru Kudayum Kunju Pengalum is nostalgic for many viewers. Though he took a break from acting, he returned to television at the age of 22, this time as an assistant director. He also worked as a post-production director for a serial. However, he did not stay in the industry for long and moved abroad in search of a job.

Yet, he could not stay away from his dream of working in films. He returned and directed a film titled Osyathu in 2017.
