Vicky Dhaliwal – Punjabi lyricist and former Kabaddi player
Vicky Dhaliwal is one of the most sought Punjabi lyricists of present-day generation, best known for his ‘hit’ association with pop artist Gurnam Bhullar. He was a state and national level Kabaddi player before he had to quit his favourite passion because of a shoulder injury. Though he has been frequently associated with Gurnam Bhullar for filmy and non-filmy music, “Diamond” released in 2018 gave him a major break in the field of music. He often appears in music videos for which he has penned lyrics.
Vicky Dhaliwal was born in a rural village Rasoli, a village near Pattran in Patiala district of Punjab in 1988. He was born and brought up in a conservative Jatt family. He used to listen to old and new writers of Punjabi literature and pop culture, and started writing during his active years in Kabaddi. Yet he took it seriously as a profession only after quitting sports career. It took long 17 years of long struggle to finally establish as a lyricist in 2015-16. Gurnam Bhullar’s “Rakhli Pyaar Nal” and “Joban Rutte” gave him initial break. His association with Gurnam Bhullar became a major success.

1. Though his parents criticized his career choice of music, they supported him throughout his bad phase of more than 15 years.
2. He spent his early years with his maternal relatives where he completed his schooling.
3. He loves to read books and also to walk through agricultural fields.
