Vaseegara Song from Minnale (Tamil) – Lyrics in English with Translation

Vaseegaraa en nenjinikka
Un pon madiyil thoonginaal podhum
Hey Magical Charmer
It’s enough if I sleep in your lap
Adhae kanam en kannuranga
Mun jenmangalin yeakkangal theerum
And if my eyes sleep forever in that moment
All wishes in previous births will be fulfilled!
Vaseegaraa en nenjinikka
Un pon madiyil thoonginaal podhum
Hey Magical Charmer
It’s enough if I sleep in your lap
Adhae kanam en kannuranga
Mun jenmangalin yeakkangal theerum
And if my eyes sleep forever in that moment
All wishes in previous births will be fulfilled!
Naan nesippadhum suvaasippadhum
Un dhayavaal thaanae
Aengugiren thengugiren
Un ninaivaal naanae naan
I breathe and love only by your mercy
I am sobbing, crying
In your thoughts…This me
Adai mazhai varum adhil nanaivoamae
When rain comes, we shall be drenched in it
Kulir kaaychalodu snegam
Oru poarvaikkul iru thookkam
When we get a cold and fever
We shall sleep together inside one blanket!
Kulu kulu poigal solli ennai velvaai
Adhu therindhum kooda anbae
Manam adhaiyaedhaan edhirpaarkkum
You will win over me by telling so many lies
Even after knowing it, my dear
My heart desires that only!
Engaeyum poagaamal
Dhinam veettilaeyae nee vendum
Without going anywhere
I wish you will stay in home every day
Sila samayam vilaiyaattaai
Un aadaikkullae naan vendum
Sometimes, just for fun
I should be inside your dress
Vaseegaraa en nenjinikka
Un pon madiyil thoonginaal podhum
Hey Magical Charmer
It’s enough if I sleep in your lap
Adhae kanam en kannuranga
Mun jenmangalin yeakkangal theerum
And if my eyes sleep forever in that moment
All wishes in previous births will be fulfilled!

Vaseegara from Minnale sung by Bombay Jayashri
Dhinam nee kulithadhum ennai thedi
En selai nuniyaal undhan
Thalai thudaipaayae adhu kavidhai
Soon after bathing every day,
You will search me,
And wipe your wet hair with my sari,
That’s a poem
Thirudan pol padhungiyae dhideer endru
Pinnaalirundhu ennai
Nee anaippaayae adhu kavidhai
As a robber, you’ll sneak up,
Suddenly enter
And hug me from the back!
That’s a poem!
Yaarenum mani kettaal
Adhai solla kooda theriyaadhae
If anyone asks about the time
I don’t know what to tell them
Kaadhalenum mudiveliyil
Gadigaara neram kidaiyaadhae
In the net of love
The clock’s time won’t work out there!
Vaseegaraa en nenjinikka
Un pon madiyil thoonginaal podhum
Hey Magical Charmer
It’s enough if I sleep in your lap
Adhae kanam en kannuranga
Mun jenmangalin yeakkangal theerum
And if my eyes sleep forever in that moment
All wishes in previous births will be fulfilled!
Naan nesippadhum suvaasippadhum
Un dhayavaal thaanae
Aengugiren thengugiren
Un ninaivaal naanae naan
I breathe and love only by your mercy
I am sobbing, crying
In your thoughts…This me
Song Trivia
Hindi Remake of Minnale
Minnale was the debut movie of Gautham Vasudev Menon as a director and Harris Jayaraj as a composer. The movie was a big hit of the year, and the fresh tunes composed by the debutante composer played a magnificent role in the film’s success. The songs of Minnale are loved even 25 years after the album’s release!
The movie was remade in Hindi the same year by Gautham Vasudev Menon, titled Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein, with Madhavan reprising his role, and making his Bollywood debut. The movie marked Gautham’s Bollywood debut too. Though Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein was a box office failure, the movie achieved cult status over the years. Though Madhavan’s debut Hindi film was a flop, he went on to become a pan-Indian star within the next few years, delivering several box office hits in Hindi, including 3 Idiots. Diya Mirza also marked her acting debut, and she reprised Reema Sen’s lead role in the film.
Hindi version of the Vaseegara song
Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein, also known as RHTDM, served as the perfect launch pad in Bollywood for the director Gautham Vasudev Menon, the composer Harris Jayaraj, and the actors Madhavan and Diya Mirza. Most of the songs from the original film were reused in the Hindi remake, including the iconic Vaseegara song too. Sameer wrote the romantic lyrics for Zara Zara and did full justice to the song. Bombay Jayashri sang the Hindi version as well, and needless to say, it became as popular as the Tamil original. The song marked her Bollywood debut, and even after many years, she is still remembered by Hindi music fans for this song.
