Sheethal Zackaria – Malayalam film actress of ‘Jaya Jaya Jaya Jaya Hey’ fame

Sheethal Zackaria is an upcoming actress of Malayalam cinema. She is best known for playing Basil Joseph’s sister in 2022 Malayalam blockbuster, Jaya Jaya Jaya Jaya Hey.

Sheethal Zackaria’s personal life

Sheethal hails from Ernakulam. She lost her father Zackaria in 2010. Her mother’s name is Annie. Her elder sister Reshma is settled in Bangalore with her family.

Sheethal Zackaria faced camera for the first time through YouTube videos

Sheethal did her schooling from Christian Mahilalaya School, Aluva. Since school days she was active in cultural activities, and has participated in memes, dance, music, recitation and drama competitions. Later she graduated in commerce from Rajagiri college. It was during those days when she started dreaming an acting career. Her family wanted her to finish her studies first. When she completed Master’s degree, lockdown was declared across the country.

 ‘Trance’ was her first big screen role

She started making Youtube videos during her academic years, and most of them belong to comedy genre. Her first break was Fahadh starrer ‘Trance’. She appeared in a shot where she passes Fahadh. But the scene was edited off. She was spotted by makers of Jaya Jaya Jaya Jaya Hey through a comedy series, Ponmutta, and gave her the much awaited first break.

She was thrilled when she was offered Basil Joseph’s sister’s role in the film. Though the role was brief, it had some comic elements and got noticed. She got good support from Basil Joseph and actress Kanakamma, who played her mother in the movie. Taking ‘behind the scenes’ shots was her favourite hobby during her shooting days.

She has faced body shaming since childhood

Soon after Jaya Jaya Jaya Jaya got released, there were active discussions about body shaming. Since school days she has faced this issue and several heart-breaking opinions which hurt her a lot. In fact, she was nicknamed ‘Football’ during her college days. She was also called ‘Road roller’ and many other names. She took decision that such personal opinions should not affect her anyway. She feels personal happiness is more important. Though she used to ignore such comments during childhood days, later she started responding.

1. Her first shot scene was chopped off. It was from movie ‘Trance’.

2. Jayaram starrer ‘Ente Veedu Appoonteyum’ was the first film, young Sheethal watched a film shoot. Years later, she shared screen space with Jayaram for the film, Ozler.

3. She belongs to a family of movie buffs. During her younger days, the family often set off in the early morning, and complete watching three movies at theatres a day.

4. She dreams to share screen space with Biju Menon and Joju George.

5. She has appeared in web series and short films.
