
Ingredients for Semiya Sambaar Saadam:
- Semiya (vermicelli) – 100 gm
- Sambaar dal (Thuvara paripp) – ½ cup
- Refined groundnut oil – 1 big spoon
- Mustard seeds – 1 tsp
- White guard or green papaya – 1 cup, square pieces
- Tamarind water – ¼ cup
- Sambar powder – 1 big spoon
- Fenugreek seeds – 1/8 tsp
- Coriander and curry leaves – a handful
- Salt – as needed
- Red chilli cut into three pieces – 1
- Ghee – 1 big spoon
How to prepare Semiya Sambaar Sadam for breakfast?
- Heat a little ghee in a pan and fry semiya till it becomes light brown.
- Boil 6 cups of water with 1/8 tsp salt, and cook vermicelli. Never overcook it. Drain excess water.
- Add white guard pieces, daal, salt and enough water to a pressure cooker and cook well.
- Then pour it into another vessel, add sambar powder and tamarind water and prepare sambar.
- Heat the oil and ghee together. Add mustard seeds and fenugreek seeds to splutter.
- Then add red chillies and curry leaves to it. Turn the flame off and add this oil to the sambar for seasoning.
- Add coriander leaves, vermicelli and stir well. It should be thick.
- Add cooked green gram and coconut. Let the whole water be absorbed. Turn the flame off.
