Reba Monica John – South Indian film actress of ‘Jacobinte Swargarajyam’ and ‘Forensic’ fame

Reba Monica John is a model and Malayalam film actress best known for her debut flick – ‘Jacobinte Swargarajyam’ (2016) and ‘Forensic’ (2020). She was the second runner-up of the show – Midukki (2013) which bagged her film opportunities. She has been featured in a few ads, and has also worked as a ramp model. Reba marked her Tamil debut with Jarugandi in 2017 in a lead role and Kannada debut with Sakalakala Vallabha in 2019. Now she gives equal importance to Tamil and Malayalam films.

Reba Monica John was born in 1994 into a Malayali family settled in Mangalore. She completed her studies in Chemistry from Bangalore. She started her career through modeling during her academic years, and came into limelight after she appeared in the reality show, Midukki aired on Mazhavil Manorama in 2013. She was also adjusted as the second runner-up too. After that she has got opportunities from both film and modeling industry.

As an actress she got her first break to films through – ‘Jacobinte Swargarajyam’ opposite Nivin Pauley. Her name was suggested to its director Vineeth Sreenivasan by cinematographer Jomon T John. Her second release was Paippin Chuvattile Pranayam, opposite Neeraj Madhav the following year. She marked her Tamil debut with Jarugandi in lead role opposite Jai, which flopped at box office. Later she became a part of Tamil movie – Bigil and played female lead in 2019 release, Dhanusu Raasi Neyargale. She played a footballer in Vijay starrer Bigil.

She returned to Malayalam films with an impressive performance in ‘Forensic’. She played the pivot role of Shikha Damodar, Forensic Intern, aside Tovino Thomas in this thriller. Mazhaiyil Nanaigiren and FIR are her upcoming Tamil releases.

Reba Monica John – Some interesting and less-known facts

1. She and actress Anu Emmanuel are cousins. Interestingly both marked their screen debut the same year opposite Nivin Pauley in two different films (Reba in Jacobinte Swargarajyam and Anu in Action Hero Biju in 2016) and both were commercial hits.

2. Also both the cousins were to mark screen debut in 2015, and got delayed for different personal reasons. Reba Monica John was offered one of the female leads – Celine in yet another Nivin Pauley blockbuster, Premam. As her father was hospitalized she didn’t accept the role. Anu Emmanuel was initially offered the lead role of Tessa in Dulquer Salman starrer hit film, Charlie. As she was busy with her academics she didn’t accept the role.

3. Her uncle Thankachan Emmanuel (father of Anu Emmanuel) is a Malayalam film producer, who produced hit movies such as Swapna Sanchari and Katha Thudarunnu, both starring Jayaram.

4. As a ramp model she has worked for leading fashion designer Rohit Bal and for Ambika Pillai’s salon inauguration.

5. She has been featured in the ads of Dhatri Hair Oil, Kalyan Jewellers, Indulekha hair oil, Eastern curry powder etc.

6. She made a cameo appearance in Nivin Pauley starrer Mikhael in 2019. She played the role of Anna.

7. She is active in social media sites, and loves blogging, hanging out with friends etc.
