Parayan Maranna Paribhavangal Song from Garshom – Lyrics in English with Translation

Parayan Maranna

Parayaan Maranna Paryaaan Maranna

Paryaaan Maranna Paribhavangal

Paryaaan Maranna Paribhavangal

Paryaaan Maranna Paribhavangal

Virahaardhramaam Mizhikalorke

The complaints which I forgot to say,

When remembered by eyes –

Grieving in separation,

Smaranakal Thirayaay

Padarum Jaladhiyaay

Smaranakal Thirayaay

Padarum Jaladhiyaay

Pozhiyum Nilaavu Pol

Vivashanaay

Memories turned waves,

Spreading as an ocean,

And became desperate like

Moonlight that’s pouring down

Paryaaan Maranna Paribhavangal

Virahaardhramaam Mizhikalorkke

The complaints which I forgot to say,

When remembered by eyes –

Grieving in separation….

Alayoo Nee Chiranthananaam

Alayoo Nee Chiranthananaam

Saandhya Meghame

Go and wander…

You, the everlasting evening cloud

Nivarum Aparamee

Mooka Veedhiyil

In this vast & silent path

Nivarum Aparamee

Mooka Veedhiyil

Piriyathe Vidarathadaranna

Vidhura Susmitham

In this vast & silent path

Where you come,

Without separating,

Without flowering,

Shed the sad smile.

Ga Saga Nisa Pa

Panisagaga Sanisa Gamapa

Gamapanisa Saanipamaga Nipamaga

Eriyumeka Thaarakayaay

Vazhi Thelikkayo

As a star burning single,

Is it a guiding path?

Paryaaan Maranna Paribhavangal

Virahaardramaam Mizhikalorkke

The complaints which I forgot to say,

When remembered by eyes –

Grieving in separation….

Pazhayoru Dhanumaasa Raavin

Madha Sugandamo

Is it the lustful perfume of

One of those old nights of *Dhanu month…

Pazhayoru Dhanumaasa Raavin

Madha Sugandamo

Is it the lustful perfume of

One of those old nights of *Dhanu month

Thazhukee Hathashamee Jaalakangalil

Caressing these desperate windows?

Thazhukee Hathashamee Jaalakangalil

Caressing these desperate windows?

Pala Yugangal Thaandi Varum

Hrudhaya Thaapam

Athirezhaa Manal Kadalil

Chirakadikkayo

The grief of heart,

Which comes, crossing many eras…

Is it fluttering wings

In the dunes without boundaries?

Paryaaan Maranna Paribhavangal

Virahaardhramaam Mizhikalorke

The complaints which I forgot to say,

When remembered by eyes –

Grieving in separation….

Smaranakal Thirayaay

Padarum Jaladhiyaay

Pozhiyum Nilaavu Pol

Vivashanaay

Memories turned waves,

Spreading as an ocean,

And became desperate like

Moonlight that’s pouring down

Paryaaan Maranna Paribhavangal

Virahaardhramaam Mizhikalorkke

The complaints which I forgot to say,

When remembered by eyes –

Grieving in separation….

Song Trivia:

Garshom was Rafeeq Ahamed’s debut work as a lyricist. Apart from Parayan Maranna song, the lyricist penned the “Ethu Kaalaraathrikalkkum” song. The music album is best remembered for a couple of beautiful ghazals rendered by Hariharan.

This extremely talented writer & poet went on to win 6 Kerala State Film Awards for Best Lyrics and is widely regarded as one of the best lyricists of contemporary Malayalam cinema. His songs from Perumazhakalam, Rithu, Elektra, Guppy, Maayanadi, How Old Are You, Koode, North 24 Kaatham, Anwar, Urumi, Ennu Ninte Moideen, Maheshinte Prathikaram, Ayyappanum Koshiyum, and Spirit are memorable.

Composer Ramesh Narayan is best known for using Hindustani music in Malayalam cinema, which is very rare. Magrib was his debut work as a composer, and it took 6 years for his second work, Garshom. Both movies starred Murali in the lead role. He contributed many memorable songs to Malayalis. His best albums are Meghamalhar, Ratri Mazha, Manjadikuru, Adaminte Makan Abu, Ennu Ninte Moideen etc. Also read the lyrics and translation of Ponnushasennum from Meghamalhar, composed by Narayan.

Though the movie was a commercial failure, it met with critical acclaim. Garshom was honoured with the John Abraham Award for Best Malayalam Film in 1998.
